The Bregenz Festival is a performing arts festival which is held every July and August in Bregenz, Austria. Their ‘Seebühne’ (or floating stage), with 7,000 seats, is the location for large-scale opera or musical performances on a stage over water on the shores of Lake Constance.

This will come in handy one day at school.

“The project attempts to challenge the idea of personal space in relationship to the human body and its surrounding environment. It is inspired by Buckminster Fuller’s practice of Dymaxion Sleeping, which involves four 30-minute naps over a period of 24 hours, and the material requirements for such conditions. Architecturally, the very close relationship between the human body and the suit acts as the generator of form as well as tool to negotiate between the occupant and his or her surroundings. The structure of the material, a structural pleat, is used as a means to create feelings of connected and disconnectedness as well as provide varying levels of support for different parts of the body. By thinking of the cut pattern as sections of the body, the structure can act as a semi-permeable outer skin.”

It looks like a burca though.
I wouldn’t recommend wearing this in France. Or Holland.

Young me Now me is een heel leuke blog met oude en nieuwe foto’s van dezelfde mensen in dezelfde pose, zo veel jaren later. De foto hierboven kwam met volgend mailtje. ‘I’m Italian and I get way into eating my food. This has been a theme in my life (yes, we have family videos of me falling asleep into mashed potatoes). No need for bibs, apparently, since there is no sauce there. But my face enjoys my food. Mom decided to capture the moment. Some things never change. My family still tells me I have no nerves in my face when I am enjoying good food.’

Ik kwam op Designboom enkele foto’s tegen van ‘Feelings are Facts‘, een tentoonstelling die vorige maand te bezichtigen was in het Ullens Center for Contemporary Art (UCCA), Peking.

‘Feelings are Facts‘, het resultaat van een eerste samenwerking tussen de Deens-IJslandse kunstenaar Olafur Eliasson en de Chinese architect Ma Yanson, daagt onze dagelijkse patronen van ruimte orientatie uit. We kunnen er niet langer ons zicht gebruiken als instinctieve navigator, maar moeten naar nieuwe patronen zoeken voor perspectief. Dit effect bereikten het kunstenaarsduo door een bevreemdende ruimte te maken waar bezoekers volledig konden verdwalen in een speciaal gecreëerd universum. Door het manipuleren van de ruimte, het licht en de temperatuur onstond er een nieuwe mistige kleurenwereld waarin ‘niets was wat het leek’.  De expo liep tot 6 juni 2010. Indrukwekkende foto’s.
